Phil Moore
I’ve been hooked on the guitar since my first lesson as a 9 year old - it became a lifelong passion that continues to challenge and inspire me. I started writing songs and formed my first band as a student in the 80's. A couple of years later we were touring New Zealand and releasing records on the world famous Flying Nun record label. Several bands and many live gigs followed.
I was also able to share my passion and skill set with my son and in 2003 I helped his band "The Checks" prepare for the Smokefree Rockquest school music competition (they made the national final). I continued to work with The Checks as their manager - a roller coaster ride of concerts and tours to Australia, England, Japan and the USA, a record contract with SonyBMG in the UK, support gigs with Oasis, REM, AC/DC, The Killers and many more, and a Tui for Best Rock Album at the 2010 New Zealand Music Awards.
I also spent time teaching at MAINZ (Music and Audio Institute of New Zealand) and I’m now looking forward to helping your students on their journey as guitarists.
