Term 2 News: Drums, New Tutor, New School and Tips
Tuesday, 10 June 2014, 2:06am
What a term 2 we’re having at Musiqhub! It’s great to see so many students returning for their guitar and uke lessons at schools across Hamilton, plus, as of this term (drum roll…) we have an awesome crew of young drummers starting up at Aberdeen School. Welcome guys – we look forward to experiencing some amazing drum action in this year’s Musiqhub concert.
We have also welcomed a new Musiqhub tutor, Tim Dent. Tim is an incredible drummer and guitarist with a fantastic teaching style, so we’re stoked to have him on board. Tim is taking over some of my Rototuna guitar students, as well as teaching the Aberdeen drum classes.
The ‘P word’
In case you missed it, most kids won’t practice unless they are actively encouraged. (Or maybe bribed…) Last newsletter I shared some tips for helping you to get your child to practice – things like ‘TV practice’ and ‘kitchen tunes’. These practice tips were so popular with parents that I loaded them to my blog on the Musiqhub website – please check them out if you need some help supporting your child in their musical learning.
On your child’s lesson day please remind them to take their guitar and book (or drum pad, sticks and book) to school. BUT if they forget to bring them or have a sore hand/other injury, please tell them to still come along to lessons. That way they can keep up with where the rest of the group are – and I'll even let them be an assistant tutor for the lesson!
A huge thank you to all the parents who have paid their term 2 invoices already. You rock! Tuition fees are my sole source of income, so I really appreciate it when fees are paid on time. Please note fees are always due within two weeks of receiving your invoice. If you haven’t received an invoice for this term please let me know as soon as you can and I’ll re-send it. Thanks.
If you have any queries during the term about practice, lessons, fees or anything else, please don’t hesitate to contact me, either on this email address or on 021 229 8220. I look forward to hearing from you – and to continuing a great term of guitar with all my awesome students.
