About the Flute
Apart from the voice, flutes are the earliest known musical instruments. A number of flutes were found in Germany and they are believed to be about 35,000 years old! It is a reedless instrument that belongs to the woodwind family and makes a sound from the flow of air across an opening. It is interesting that it belongs to the woodwind family because it is made of metal and doesn’t use a reed! It can be played as part of a symphony orchestra, jazz group or as a solo instrument.
