About the Alto Saxophone
The alto saxophone belongs to the woodwind family and it was invented by a Belgian instrument designer (his name was Adolphe Sax!) in 1841. It is smaller than a tenor saxophone but larger than a soprano, and it is the type most used in classical compositions. It can be commonly heard in jazz, classical and marching band music. In the Simpsons, you may spot Lisa playing her alto saxophone!
