11th February 2014 Hi Everybody
As our lessons begin next week I hope you are all keen to get back into learning new things on the guitar and about music. I'm really looking forward to catching up with you all and meeting new students.
Think about something you've got pretty good at (rugby, minecraft, netball, swimming...) Pretty safe to say you became good at it because you were doing it a lot right? The same applies for learning guitar. Just like any skill the more you practice, the better you get so you want to get into the habit of picking up your guitar daily.
KEEP YOUR GUITAR OUT OF IT'S CASE AT HOME !
When you are starting out, keep your practice sessions short (5-10 minutes) and often, rather than long and once a week. That way you build up strength in your hands and you will recall what you are learning more quickly. You will be given a practice schedule which is a way of keeping track of your commitment to practice. Ask a parent to sign off on this each week. At the end of the term all students who have a signed practice schedules will go into the draw for a prize.
For students moving past their frst year of tution we begin learning music theory, as it applies to the guitar. This can be a bit of a challenge also but can open up a whole new world of music that will provide a lifetime of fun and enjoyment.
High School students will be meeting at the Stomach Recording Studio on Lombard Street for their lesson time, which is a new venue for us and an awesome place for young musicians to learn about. (I recorded an album with a friend at the Stomach all the way back in 1992 and it has got a lot fasher since then). We can assist students taking music at high school wanting to prepare for Grade 1 music examinations as our curriculum is designed to align with Trinity School of Music, Rock and Pop.
There may be some adjustments over the frst term in lesson times as new students enrol requiring me to adjust my itinerary and I will update you as these are worked out. Because I'm often out and about, it's usually best to email me if you have nay questions. I'll do my best to get back to you as soon as I can.
See you soon

Hi Craig I have attached a video of you & Jacob playing "I Walk the Line". We are so proud of Jacob, he did so well. To be on stage playing in front of an audience with just the two of you is not something he would have been able to do a year ago. Chris & I want to thank you for everything you have taught Jacob. He has come a long way with his guitar and really enjoys it. We know he will keep it up. Thanks again. Regards Nikki

Hi Craig Jayden has really loved his lessons with you this year so we are wanting to re-enrol with you for next year, if you have a place for Jayden and for his older sister Mya that would be great.

Just a quick e-mail to say we would like Luke to continue with guitar lessons at Rongotea school next year. Also we would like to say that we thought the end of year concert was fantastic. Jason (Luke’s dad) was so inspired he has gone out and brought new strings for his guitar and intends to have a “play around again†(maybe he can practice with Luke!) Thanks again Tania

Hi Craig Elton and myself (along with our other two children) would like to thank you immensely for the fantastic guitar concert you held a couple of weekends ago. We are not a "musical" family and having Charlie being so interested in the guitar has meant we have had to become interested by default. We have supported his weekly lessons and enjoyed listening to him practise (especially on his electric guitar). We couldn't have enjoyed the concert more and my husband said he would have "gone again the next night". So there is some feedback from some "unmusical" folk who really appreciated the time effort and high quality of your show. Thank you so much.
